It’s so interesting, we think we do a great job masking our feelings, but we don’t. People just know, they can sense our inner thoughts, our mood, our level of comfort, even if we try to hide or fake it. This invisible vibe we carry around with us, it’s so important to be aware of it as a coach, and learn ways to reset, so that we can find a way to truly be open, available, welcoming.
Having time before a clients to set an intention for the session would help with this. I’ve started incorporating this into my day. In times of transition between activities, I take a moment to think of what I want to get out of the next activity, what type of energy do I want to bring, what’s the goal, what’s the feeling I want to have when I leave, what kind of impact do I want to have. Most of the time I do this while walking or driving, but sometimes I take a moment to close my eyes, relax my body and take 5 really deep and slow breaths while I set my intention.
