At first, I was mortified; needing to solicit positive stories from friends that show when I’m at my best self. I physically felt the awkwardness when I sent the requests. I definitely would have opted out given the choice.
I liked the concept however, focusing on our strengths instead of our limitations, how refreshing. You can really go down the rabbit hole of self development, the more I explore, the more I find new goals, new desired changes, new gaps to fill. It kind of gets exhausting. I’ve been deep in self development for about a year or two, and you can kind of burn out of it.
Which brings me back to RBSE. It was really good timing for me. The biggest take away for me is that it’s great to have a learning orientation, to have intellectual humility, to be curious, but sometimes you have to take a step back and feel like you’re enough, you do enough, just the way you are, right now. You don’t need to wait to be more credible to go after your dream job, you don’t need to be trying to fix yourself all the time. Gratitude, for where we are now, for where we’ve been, for the lessons we’ve learned and our journey to this point.
I feel like the RBSE said to me, “What are you waiting for kid, you’re good to go, go after your dream, you’ll figure out the rest as you go, as you have in the past”. I love the RBSE, it’s been eye opening, I will definitely consider using it for clients. Why not lean on our positive attributes to propel forward?
